Tuesday October 2nd, SME Chapter 39 (SEATTLE CHAPTER) will be offering the Certified Manufacturing Technologist  Prep Course  and the Certified Manufacturing Engineer Prep Course.   This is offered online and free for SME members.

Instructions for registration and ordering  Prep Kit (Text and Workbook) are described in the registration link. Please get this done by September 21st to secure your spot and to receive your textbooks in time for the first class.   There is a cost for the materials and the exam but the training is free. FREE for SME Members or SME Student Members.(enter code SME39 when ordering tickets on EventBrite)

The Course will be held at Edmonds Community College on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:30pm to 9:00pm for 5 consecutive weeks, finalizing with an in class exam on Saturday, November 3rd, from 8:30am to 1:00pm.  Upon request, you can attend the class remotely. We can provide you with a webex (view instructor presentation live over the internet) and teleconference number so you can attend at a location of your convenience.

New Initial impressions

I’ve been playing around with’s new site, which is based on software called Higher Logic. It includes both blogging and social media functions, as well as online management of your membership, etc.

Officer Installation Dinner – 1/19/12

Our 2012 Officer Installation dinner was held at Hobee’s Sunnyvale on Thursday, January 19th.  It was well attended and a big success.  Highlights included Phil Ogaz receiving the President’s Award for outstanding service in 2011, Kathy Looman discussing SME National, and brainstorming some great ideas for upcoming tours.  Agenda and minutes below…
